Port open ‘e-hub’ at Q-Park Queensway

Q-Park are delighted to confirm that Port have opened their second ‘e-hub’ with Q-Park in their Queensway parking facility in the heart of Central London.

Q-Park are delighted to confirm that Port have opened their second ‘e-hub’ with Q-Park in their Queensway parking facility in the heart of Central London.

Back in 2022, technology company Port launched the world’s first ‘e-hub’ in Q-Park Leicester Square – a group of state-of-the-art electric bikes securely docked and charged in dedicated stations within an inner-city, off-street parking site - that empowers London’s last-mile industry to switch to sustainable delivery vehicles and reduce its vast carbon footprint.

The mobility-as-a-service e-hub concept enables individual couriers or delivery firms to rent electric bikes on a daily or weekly basis through the Port app. Each rental includes the vehicle, parking, charging, maintenance, and software provided by Port. Users simply pick up the fully charged bike from the hub, use it for deliveries throughout the day, and return it to the hub when done. The vehicle is locked, parked and charged overnight and then ready to be rented the next day. The long range and battery capabilities of the EV means it can be used for an entire day of work.

Q-Park have operated the Queensway parking facility in the Bayswater area of Central London for over 10 years. The car park is just a short walk away from Hyde Park and is also within the vicinity of Notting Hill. It is also popular for those not wanting to enter the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) who park up and then take the London Underground further into Central Westminster. Q-Park is also at the forefront of the European parking industry in the creation of Mobility Hubs. The aim is to evolve parking facilities to become vital instruments to help realise urban accessibility, sustainability and liveability. In addition to car parking, Q-Park aims to provide access for shared mobility schemes, rapid electric fleet charging, last mile delivery and retail spaces all housed within their safe and secure multi-purpose parking facilities.

Port’s ‘e-bike hubs’ at Q-Park facilities have been a resounding success, allowing Port to expand to new locations within London and setting the stage for potential growth into other cities. During a time of courier shortages, these hubs have opened new opportunities for people who live in suburban areas to join the last-mile delivery industry. Suburban couriers can now commute into the city centre, where they pick up a fully charged bike for the day’s work.

Kamil Suda, Founder at Port said ‘We are delighted to open a new e-hub at Q-Park Queensway. Working with an expert in Urban Mobility has allowed us to begin to realise the full potential of our technology and the benefits it can provide to the local area.’

John Denton, Director of Commercial at Q-Park added ‘We are absolutely delighted to be able to welcome the expansion of Port into a new parking facility in London. The work that we do nurturing these strategic partnerships is part of our aim to the Sustainable Mobility Partner of choice by 2030.’
