Q-Park are delighted to announce the opening of the new parking facility that serves the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.

The Midland Metropolitan University Hospital is itself a brand new hospital which opened in October 2024. This regional acute hospital in Smethwick, the largest in the area, features 736 beds, 11 operating theatres, an A&E department, diagnostic suites, and research and education facilities. It is expected to greatly enhance healthcare opportunities for the local community and patients have already transferred from Sandwell General Hospital as the new hospital opened on 6th October. The maternity service moves on 6th November with City hospital following on the 10th.

Q-Park have an extensive history of managing car parking for Hospitals. In Birmingham alone they operate the parking facilities for Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Sandwell General Hospital, Rowley Regis Hospital and City Hospital. Having such extensive experience managing over 7000 spaces has allowed Q-Park to hold a strong position when tendering for the next upcoming contracts.

Q-Park have an existing contract with the Sandwell and Birmingham NHS Trust where they worked with construction partners to design and build new car parks at Sandwell General Hospital, City Hospital and Rowley Regis Hospital. The operation of these new facilities commenced in 2022 and was completed to such a high standard that the Q-Park City Hospital facility was nominated for the Best New Car Park at the British Parking Awards 2022. The new facility at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital was completed alongside the hospital and provides over 1600 parking spaces for staff and patients, there are also 30 EV Charging Points that visitors can use to top up their vehicle whilst they are parked.
