Duncan - PCV Driver - Gatwick

Tell us about your role

I am a member of a team of four PCV drivers who transfer passengers to two terminals. The job is what you make it. Drivers are an essential part of the car park process – for us the airport is an everyday experience but for most, it’s a once a year experience, and all those things that we take for granted, often a gentle reassurance is all that is required to put customers at ease. The friendly face behind the wheel is just what they need. All shifts are 12 hours, 4 on 4 off, but no 2 days are ever the same. I joined the team in 2009!

Sukhbinder - Senior Parking Host - Leeds

Tell us about your role

I have worked at sites in York, Newcastle, and Leeds, and in our Customer Service Centre. I was promoted to Senior Parking Host in 2016. It’s a varied role in which I undertake quite a few different tasks. Some of my duties include creating monthly usage reports, dealing with our partners such as local hotels, ordering stock, and helping my colleagues. The thing I love most about my job is that no two days are the same as I deal with different issues all the time, and the four days on four days off shift pattern is a good balance. I joined Q-Park in 2002.

Paul - Senior Parking Host - Newcastle

Tell us about your role

The thing I love about my job is that you can work at your own pace and be very self-sufficient. I like the shift patterns – 4 on 4 off, twelve hour shifts – it makes the commute to and from work quick and easy as there is no traffic. Everything is on site, you get to know the regulars and you’re out and about keeping busy, not just sitting in an office all day. It doesn’t feel like a job when you like it. I feel quite lucky to work with the team I do – it’s well balanced and we bounced off of each other. There is good communication within the team, so things like holidays work well, and everything gets done - the job isn’t made hard by someone not doing their bit. Everyone has the same work ethic so it compliments each other. Most people who visit our site are impressed with the cleanliness and standard of the car park, a lot of people have said it’s one of the best sites they’ve visited. I joined Q-Park in 2014!

Sarah - Customer Service Team Leader - Leeds

Tell us about your role

I joined Q-Park as a Customer Service Adviser and came into the role with very little knowledge of the car parking world. I never thought the world I was entering would be so challenging and exciting. My day-to-day role is incredibly fast paced. I am always busy speaking to customers and resolving any tricky parking queries – no day is ever the same! Within 2 years of starting I was internally promoted to the position of Team Leader which has been a great opportunity. At Q-Park my ideas are valued and my manager supports my decisions. I think it’s incredibly important to work in a company that gives me the opportunity to grow and develop as quickly as the business does. I’m very excited to see where the next few years takes us! Sarah joined Q-Park in 2017!
